Help Therapy is here to help you be successful in your private practice. Starting your own private practice is similar to starting your own business. There are so many benefits, but it is important to establish your business foundation. 


One step of this is to get your own business license. Many cities require you to have one before starting to practice business within that city, others do not. You can find of a list of cities in San Diego that require you to have a business license to practice here. That said, there are a lot of benefits to having a business license in general which is why Help Therapy asks providers to have or be in the process of obtaining a business license regardless of where they are conducting business. 


Here is a quick outline of how to go about obtaining a business license in San Diego County. If you are outside of San Diego county, please feel free to reach out to us and we will do our best to assist. 


1. Visit the website to: https://www.sandiego.gov/treasurer/taxesfees/btax/btaxhow
2. You can apply by mail, in person or online.  The site above will walk you through the steps
3. The cost is outlined on the site above as well
4. Please allow two weeks for your application to process
5. You should apply within 15 days of starting to conduct business in your area. 


Please note, you do not need an EIN to apply for a business license. You can apply with your Social Security Number as a Sole Proprietor.
